UP IS EMPOWERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF WORLD-CHANGERS
Urban Preparatory Academy (UP) is doing some amazing things when it comes to educating, empowering and preparing the next generation to be world changers. UP is committed to developing the intellectual character of their students. They want them to think critically, creatively and reflectively so they can empower their students to bring about change in their community and the world.
Our team at Smith Orthodontics strives to provide “more than a smile,” and in the same way, UP is committed to providing “more than an education.” They are impacting the lives of their students, whether it means picking them up for school, providing a morning breakfast, or putting tools and experiences in front of their students that enable them to flourish. They are committed to impacting the lives of their students. We have so much respect for Pastor Moore and his team, and we feel honored that they would choose to allow us to come along side them in this mission.
SO, WHAT IS PROJECT PLAY?
The UP curriculum combines the rigor of classroom education integrated with an online experience designed for a contemporary society. Students learn about character, ethics, empathy and self-esteem implicitly by studying and interacting with community businesses and leaders.
Long story short: They have been and continue to be a huge blessing in this community. So we want to bless them in a way that helps them continue to fulfill their mission.
That’s why our service project for 2019 is Project Play. Together, the Smith Orthodontics family of patients and staff will help raise funds to build a new playground that UP has envisioned. We are humbled to play a small part in coming along side their efforts to create an environment of creative play for their students. Our goal is to help in turning the empty field students currently use for recess, into an environment that allows them to play and grow in a creative spirit. We hope to build a natural playground that students will be able to enjoy for years to come!
